Biography

Boubacar Sangaré is a young Mali-born filmmaker from Burkina Faso. He studied law at the University of Ouagadougou and trained at the Institut Supérieur de l’Image et du Son (ISIS) in Ouagadougou, the film school of the famous director Gaston Kaboré. In 2012, he produced his first short film that was screened at the 2013 FESPACO festival. Two years later, he presented a documentary in the festival’s student film section. Boubacar Sangaré works as a television reporter for the online TV magazine www.droitlibre.net, which reports from eight West African countries. It is produced by “Semfilms”, which also hosts the Ciné Droit Libre human rights film festival. The documentary UNE RÉVOLUTION AFRICAINE, LES DIX JOURS QUI ONT FAIT CHUTER BLAISE COMPAORÉ (“An African revolution, the ten days that led to Blaise Compoaré’s fall”), which Boubacar Sangaré shot with Ciné Droit Libre director Gideon Vink, opened the 2015 edition of the festival. Boubacar Sangaré is currently working on new film projects and as a media lawyer.
