Biography
Jide Tom Akinleminu was born in Denmark and grew up there and in Nigeria. The son of a Danish librarian and a Nigerian agricultural scientist, he was interested from an early age in visual media and documentary film. He studied art at the Danish Fatamorgana Academy. In 2004, he applied to study cinematography at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). Since then he has worked as a cameraman on numerous films that have been shown at festivals around Germany and internationally (Locarno, Oberhausen, Berlinale, Hof, Lisbon and Marseille). The seven-minute film KOKON received – not least thanks to his camera work – the 2009 German
Short Film Award. The autobiographical PORTRAIT OF A LONE FARMER is his first feature-length documentary film, for which he served as both cinematographer and director.
