Biography
After finishing his studies in marketing, Andrey S. Diarra became interested in audiovisual media and began to make films for NGOs in Mali. He also gained practical experience assisting other directors. In addition, he worked for the Dutch television broadcaster “VPRO-Metropolis TV” and the “Africa Interactive” media network in Amsterdam as a Malian correspondent. In 2010, a scholarship allowed him to complete a Master in Film Production at the Stendhal University in Grenoble. Upon graduating in 2012, he directed his first feature-length documentary HAMOU-BÉYA – PÊCHEURS DE SABLE (Sand Fishers), which he is to present in Cologne. The film has been screened at more than 30 international festivals and has been honoured with prizes in Burkina Faso, Nigeria, France, and Italy.
