Hoda Salah

Biography

Hoda Salah is a political scientist and journalist. Since 2011, when protests began in Egypt against the dictator Hosni Mubarak, she has divided her time between Cairo and Berlin. She works for the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Politics at the Freie Universität Berlin, specialising in issues of Islam, transformation processes and women`s rights. She is involved with NGOs such as the “Arab`s Women Solidarity Association”, “Egyptian Organization for Human Rights” and “Amnesty International”. 

As a follow-up to the “Out of Europe XII” festival in 2012 and upon the invitation of the German-Egyptian Society Cologne, she gave a lecture on “One Hundred Years of the Women`s Movement in Egypt”.
