Gilbert Kwamina Yanney

Biography

After the FESPACO 2013 in Ouagadougou, FilmInitiativ team members travelled across the border into Ghana to visit the NAFTI film school and meet filmmakers there. While in Accra, they also met Kwamina Gilbert Yanney. He is the director of the Ghanaian film company Flamboyant Damsel Films Ltd, with which he produced the OLD SIMPSON SERIES for television and a restored version of the feature film HIS MAJESTY’S SERGEANT. The latter is a classic of Ghanaian cinema, which his father directed, about colonial soldiers in Ghana who had to fight under British command in the Second World War.
