Biography

The literary scholar and sociologist lived from 1983 to 1995 in Italy and Indonesia, where she worked as a language and literature instructor in universities and for the Goethe-Institut. From 1996 to 2005, based in Cologne, she coordinated Indonesian artists in various initiatives including a cooperation with the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum and the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen. She was also a lecturer for creativity and communication at the “ifs” international film school in Cologne and has carried out intercultural consulting for various companies. Starting in 2006, she worked for the GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) in several African countries. She currently leads the “Economic Integration of Women in the MENA Area” North Africa and Middle East regional programme, headquartered in Cairo.
