Biography

Darryn Welch completed his studies in film and television at the “ARTTS International training centre“ in North Yorkshire. In 1999, he founded the production company “Versatile Film” in Spain, generating music videos, TV productions and commercials. In 2002, he produced his first feature film, a comedy called Oh Marbella, and in 2004 he took up his first role as director in the Spanish thriller Slave. Having worked for two years as a producer in Eastern Europe and completed a co-production with “Buena Vista International“
on the feature Goal! The dream begins, Darryn Welch set up the Berlin company “Instinctive Film“ in 2006. From 2007, he and his partner Chris Ouwinga extended operations beyond production to include development, financing and distribution of films. Additionally, he ran a digital distribution label in the US, called “Interactor Media“, his own website promoting independent film (www.filminiteractor.com) and an agency for actors, filmmakers and models in Berlin and Los Angeles. In 2009, he took part in the production of the feature Atletu in Ethiopia together with the filmmakers Rasselas Lakew and Davey Frankel.
