Biography

Moussa Touré was born in 1958 in Dakar, Senegal. He entered the film industry as an electrician, then became assistant director and finally directed his first own short, Baram, in 1987. In the same year he started to produce documentary films with his own company “Les Films du Crocodile“. His first feature, Toubab Bi (1991), about an African student in Paris, was honored with awards at numerous film festivals. It was also shown in Cologne in 1993 at the festival Out of Europe III. His road movie TGV was a popular success even in Germany and won the Audience Award at the 1998 Mannheim Festival. After working on several films as actor, technician and director, he was invited to Cannes in 2012 with his feature film La Pirogue and won the main price (“Tanit d’or“) at the festival Journées Cinématographique de Carthage in Tunisia.
