Biography

Gabriel Martins is a filmmaker raised in Contagem, Brazil. He is the co-founder of the production company Filmes de
Plástico, responsible for features like ELA VOLTA NA QUINTA (premiered in FID Marseille in 2013), TEMPORADA (premiered in Locarno in 2018) and NO CORAÇÃO DO MUNDO (premiered in Tiger Competition in Rotterdam in 2019),
this last one being directed by him with Maurilio Martins. The section “contemporary black Brazilian cinema” in Rotterdam
also included his short NADA, which is presented in Cologne. His short films was also screened in festivals
like the Festival du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latino Americano in
Havana and the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes. He is currently editing his first feature film as a solo director
called MARS ONE.
