Biography

Aline Frazão grew up in Luanda, Angola’s capital, and moved to Lisbon aged 18 for her studies. She subsequently lived in Spain for many years and has since returned to Luanda. She started writing songs at a young age, and these first compositions were influenced by a broad range of styles: bossa nova is one of them, along with jazz and music from the Cape Verde islands. Her Angolan homeland and her Creole roots have always taken centre stage. Only recently did she start making a name for herself as a film music composer, in addition to setting texts by Angolan authors to music. Despite her desire to discover and experience the cosmopolitan, she always returns to Angola with her music.
