Biography

Filipe Henriques was born on 24 July 1979 in Bissau, the capital of the West African country of Guinea-Bissau. At 18, he was forced to leave his homeland because of armed conflicts occurring there. He emigrated to Portugal, where he continued the studies he had begun in Taborda (Guinea-Bissau). In 2011, he began studying film, video, and multimedia communication at Lisbon’s Lusófona University. From 2006 to 2013, he worked for the Portuguese production company Plural Entertainment, as a sound designer for numerous TV series including MEU AMOR (My Love), which won an Emmy in 2010 for the best international telenovela. Felipe Henriques currently lives in Manchester, UK. The film O ESPINHO DA ROSA is his first feature film.
