Biography

Naziha Arebi was born in 1984 to a Libyan father and an English mother, and she grew up in Hastings in the UK.
Having trained in the world of theatre, she completed an MA in Screen at Central Saint Martins College of Art and
Design. After her studies, Arebi moved to Libya to gain a better understanding of her father’s homeland. She now
works as a visual artist and filmmaker, and her works have been exhibited worldwide. She has also produced a
number of short films. Her work primarily explores gender issues and the role of women in society. Her film FREEDOM
FIELDS about female footballers in Libya is her first full-length documentary and it will be screened at the 17th
Afrika Film Festival Köln.
