Biography

As the daughter of a German mother and a father of Sierra Leonean origin, Mallence Bart-Williams were born in Cologne. She graduated with a degree in economics and finance after studying in Paris, Singapore and Great Britain, and she works as a publisher, fashion designer and a film and theatre producer. She was recently co-producer for the first African play on Broadway, ECLIPSED, whose cast includes Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. In Sierra Leone, Mallence got together with street kids to found the creative collective FOLORONSHU that allows children and adolescents to go to school and opens up opportunities for them to become designers by producing their own trainers or clothing collections. They have since been invited to art exhibitions all over the world, have a book published and also featured in the film THE RISING OF THE SON, which Mallence produced.
