Biography

Alia Ayman is a writer and filmmaker born and raised in Cairo. After earning her BA in Psychology from the American University in Cairo, she started looking for a way to share her existential preoccupations with a wider audience. After  experimenting with poetry and prose, she decided to pursue film as her medium of self-expression. She is a self-taught  filmmaker. She travelled to New York for a 3-month workshop to study at NYU and that’s when she shot her self-portrait, CATHARSIS: A SELF PORTRAIT. Alia is currently living in Cairo, working on her first feature length script.
