Abstract

Cars, greasy overalls and gender stereotyping – after the death of her father, 21-year-old Ayanda tries to keep his car repair shop afloat. But the business doesn’t go well, and Ayanda’s uncle threatens to sell the garage. As an attempt to save her father’s legacy, Ayanda devises a new business idea. Along with her friend David, she wants to do up vintage cars and sell them on. Her imagination represents a modern South Africa, where women also have a creative voice.
In 2015, it opened Durban International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize at Los Angeles Film Festival.
