Abstract

The sociocritical parable tells the story of the puppeteer Mokhtar and his son Nabil who drive through the Algerian mountains in their old van to put on children's shows. On their journey they meet with people who welcome them but also with corrupt police officers and religious fanatics, who through their respective behaviours characterise the condition of Algerian society.
