Selection of grassroots reports
Shortly after the Egyptian protest movement had started to gather momentum in early 2011, independent filmmakers, journalists and cultural and political activists founded the Mosireen media collective in Cairo. The collective has since realised a remarkable amount of work. At great personal risk, Mosireen members have managed to not only film numerous acts of violation and massacres conducted by the Egyptian military and secret police, they have also recorded social unrest within companies and uprisings in rural areas.
