Abstract

Chinese merchant Zhang Wei sells a mysterious figurine of the Virgin Mary. Bessa and Domingas are in mourning. Zoyo is looking for his missing friend. A barber establishes a new cult. An arena turns into the site of a strange and grotesque political spectacle.
