Abstract

1962, right after the end of the war of liberation in Algeria: a young mother, who’s husband has been shot by French soldiers, now has to face her situation and take care of her six children. A French colonial appointee, who has witnessed the execution, donates his house to the young mother, before he leaves Algeria to go back to France. But the corrupt police govenor disseizes the house and illegally claims it for himself. The woman fights for her right, that the land belongs to those who fought for liberation. To achieve her right, she decides to go to Algiers and talk to Ben Bella, the president of the country. The actuality of this topic, despite its historical setting, is underlined by the fact that this film won the Public’s Choice Award at the Film Festival Carthage (Tunisia), October 2010. At the Fespaco 2011 in Ouagadougou, the film won the awards for Best Script and Best Actrice.
