Abstract

In the late summer 2010, when the strict censorship of the Ben Ali dictatorship was still enforced in Tunisia, the film maker Nadia El Fani confronted her interview partners with her criticism in regards to the creeping Islamicisation of the Tunisian society in front of running cameras during Ramadan. At the end of 2010 the revolt begins, she is again with the camera on the streets where now for the first time it is possible to openly discuss the political future of the country. Nadia El Fani participates actively in those debates and finds especially support from women for her demand for a secular constitution for the new Tunisia. When she explains on Tunisian Television she does not believe in God fanatic Islamists spread death threats against her through Facebook. In June 2011 she was awarded the « Prix International de la Laïcité » for her courageous involvement.
