Abstract

In her documentary dedicated to “martyrs of the revolution“, the Egyptian video artist Hala Elkoussy presents a picture of Cairo which is distinct from those in the television reports of 2011. In the early morning she wanders with her camera through the city following in the footsteps of Arab and European literary figures who have written about Cairo in their books.
