Abstract

The short feature film takes place in a concrete settlement in the south of Algiers in the mid-1990s, when the country was shaken by a civil war between Islamists and government troops. In that time, Djaber and Yamina could only show their interest in each other through fleeting eye contact, since in their housing complex, it is forbidden for unmarried males and females to meet with each other. One day, the politically motivated violence changes their lives forever.
The film has received numerous awards including honours at the African Film Festival in Cordoba (best short film) and at festivals in Angers and Namur.
