Abstract

Against her husband`s wishes, Bintou tries to earn money for her daughter`s school fees, so she can grow up with the independence and opportunities denied during her own childhood. She sprouts millet, a skill passed on to her by her own mother, but as the business develops her husband doesn`t take kindly to the challenges this poses to their traditional roles.
