Abstract

This Sengalese drama, set in the mid 60s, follows the exploits of two gangs of teenagers who adopt Western ways. Each gang only has three members. Les Ins take their names from French pop stars. The Kings are styled after American rhythm and blues players. Johnny Hallyday`s gang controls the eligible village girls. The Kings have the only record player in the area. The boys parents set back and watch their children bemusedly. They are not quite sure how they feel about all the new fangled behavior. The villagers become shocked when a wealthy merchant buys a television. The TV usurps the traditional shadow puppet shows as the village entertainment.
