Abstract

Wided Younsi is the African champion, Rym Jouini is the World Vice-Champion, and Houda and Marwa Rahali are national champions. The four Tunisian women have not just decided to enter the boxing ring to win titles. They are also trying to improve their precarious living situations through athletic success. Yet to do this, the women must overcome numerous reservations, because in Tunisia`s Arab Muslim society, women`s boxing is not at all understood or accepted. The film shows in very personal and sensitive ways just how difficult it is, in such a patriarchal atmosphere, for the protagonists to make their dreams come true.
