Abstract

Atang lives in the big city of Johannesburg, where he ekes out a rough living. When his father dies, he is obliged to take his remains back to his home village in the mountains of Lesotho and bury him, in order to fulfil the elder man’s last wish. But Atang has become a stranger to his birthplace and he feels lost there. He only gets along with his old school friend Dineo. But Dineo’s family tries to stop the friendship and obliges her to leave the village. Atang makes a young friend who accompanies him in search of Dineo, all the while learning the mystical beauty of his land as well as the hard living conditions of the people there.
The film won three prizes at the 2013 African Movies Academy Awards in Nigeria.
