Abstract

The story takes place in a small village at the mediterranean coast in North Africa. Its inhabitants are faced with a building project of a luxury hotel for European tourists. The film focuses on the fisherman Tahar, the blacksmith Lamine and the wealthiest man of the village, Hai Ibrahim who owns boats and land. German investors come to start building a luxury hotel which is also supported by the local government. Now the inhabitants have to face this new situation and are forced to help building the hotel and work as servant for the tourists to make their living. But Tahar resists and has to pay a high price for this.
