Abstract

There are amazingly courageous hip hoppers in the Southwest African country Zimbabwe, a country which here in Germany, at best, generates negative headlines. In 2010 the “International spoken word and hip hop Festival SHOKO!” took place in Zimbabwe with 1,200 visitors. For the festival organisers it was about campaigning for social change and democracy with slam poetry, hip hop and urban culture – as shown in this impressive documentary.
